With over 90 hours of programmes, documentaries, feature films, shorts and news footage, discover footage from major televisions channels as well as Super 8 amateur film dating back over 50 years. The Donegal Islands Film and Radio Archive is a unique digital collection of archive material relating to the islands off County Donegal. This archive contains over 50 hours of film, television and video in the form of 94 separate items such as newsreels, television news and documentaries and home movies from the 1950s to the present day.

Wheelchairs –Box Office is happy to help by accommodating customers who may require particular seating arrangements to assist with all access and mobility requirements. Our venue has seating for eight wheelchair users – four in the Stalls, two in the Circle and two in the Upper Circle.
We have a courtesy wheelchair for visitors’ use, subject to availability.
You can pre-book it by calling the Box Office on 028 7126 4455 or you can request one on arrival. This wheelchair is for transportation to your seat only and cannot be used for the duration of the performance.
Loop System – Induction loops are provided at Box Office and in the Auditorium. The system will operate in the Auditorium with hearing aids set to “T”. We have a portable infra-red loop system to supplement our static loop system. Headsets can be obtained from our Coffee Shop situated on Level 2. There are good lighting levels throughout with tactile and Braille signage around the building

Our building has received The William Keown Trust Access Award in recognition of The Playhouse and our architect’s commitment to making our new building accessible for everyone in the community.
We are also applicants to the Autism NI Autism Impact Award. This means our staff are Autism Aware, and able to provide support, ensuring individualised customer service and communication for those with Autism. We have also provided adjustments to our building to help individuals with Autism use our premises.
The Playhouse also operates an Essential Companion Scheme to ensure everyone can enjoy all our services and facilities.

The area directly outside the Balor is available as a drop-off and collection point during main events. The venue is staffed around one hour before a performance begins – We are happy and available to give assistance if required. The building is wheelchair accessible and we have 5 spaces for wheelchairs in the auditorium – 2 in the front row and 3 in the back row. Please advise box office staff when booking if you require a wheelchair space and we will allocate your seats accordingly. Assisted hearing facilities available. Guide Dog friendly.
